New Facilities at Cape Audio College – Five new Beat Factories have arrived!

There are some new additions here at the Cape Audio College. We have just completed fitting an additional five production studios to add to our already impressive facilities. The Beat factories (As we are calling them) are production specific studios fitted with the very latest in electronic music production hardware and software as well as acoustically treated recording booths and control rooms. Each beat factory has been equipped with the latest in Focusrite audio interfaces, brand new Apple Mac, Pro Tools 10 workstations, some pretty nice outboard processing from Lexicon and dbx, monitoring from JBL, as well as a Roland GAIA production synthasizers and Yamaha mixing consoles in every room. The new department is also home to some of the nicest synthasizers on the market today, which are available to students for their production assignments. Student Diary: Hectic on Hope the YOH! parties.

The following article was written by Cape Audio College second year student Warren Fisher and is an excerpt from his and Michael Clarks experiences as independent live sound engineers on one of his very first events. Live sound  is a hugely buoyant part of the sound industry with many employment opportunities. It is great to see some of our students getting involved and going out and doing it for themselves, and as an institution that supports and guides after a student has finished studying, we were more than happy to let the guys test out our new JBL rig.

Beach Party Record at Cape Audio College

There are some new kids in town. Beach party is a “Psychedelic-Afro-Disco-Surf-Punk” band from Cape Town. This five piece monster of an outfit consists of Andrew (Keys), Danny (Guitar and vocals) Makkie (Bass), Black Irish (Drums) and Big daddy D (Guitar). The band is extremely tight with melodies and rhythms that will get your foot tapping and your head spinning with joy. Ernie B St Clair – Cape Audio Graduate Interview

 

Recently we where visited by one of our old graduates, Ernie B St Clair. Ernie studied here at the Cape Audio College 11 years ago and has enjoyed quite a lot of success as an artist and producer. Cape Town Electronic Music Festival Day 2 Highlights

David “The Kiffness” Scott – Remixes Goldfish

Seems like one of our graduates is doing rather well. David Scott Aka,, The Kiffness has remixed and released an official Goldfish single (8bit? really?).  Titled “We come together” featuring Sakhile Moleshe and is the latest single to be released by Cape Town chart toppers Goldfish.  Included on the single are remixes from the likes Shaun Duvet, fishy beat and Tony Finger.
