Dave Subkleve guest lecture.

With over 30 years of sound engineering experience Dave Subkleve sure knows sound. Dave has a passion for audio gear and software plug-ins that he uses with great skill in order to produce world-class mixes. The final year students were given an opportunity to attend an advanced mix lecture from Dave who gave them some great insight into being a professional sound engineer. “Sound Engineering is a great career choice and pays my bill, but it is not all glam. I remember a day when software controllers where these ugly grey boxes with big rubber F keys. They had nasty, complicated MIDI integration and cost more than a family car. That wasn’t all that long ago and with technology moving at such a pace I find myself wondering what we are in store for next. Pro Tools Workshops will be hosted at the Cape Audio College, providing demonstrations for audio dealers and users alike.  On Thursday the 19th of July, the AVID team will be pulling into our brand new auditorium to present the latest in  Pro Tools technology. Cape Audio Graduate Scoops Best Engineer SAMA award.

Well, we can all be very proud of one of our graduates. Johan Van der Colff has run off with this years best engineer award at the 2012 South african music awards (SAMA). The SAMA award needs no introduction as it is South Africa’s answer to the Grammy’s and showcases the very best in South African Talent.
