DJ On-Q, AKAI pro Audio and Paul Bothners Demo at Cape Audio College

On Thursday 23rd of August Cape Audio College had the pleasure of welcoming DJ ONQ and Paul Bothners to our campus for a product demo and workshop.

DJ ONQ presented the Paul Bothners workshop with a focus on Akai Professional products. He looked at the use of Akai Professional and Ableton Live in both the Studio and Live environments. Starting the workshop with a detailed history of Akai as well as sampling that gave birth to a new musical groove production that emulated into the Hip Hop culture of the early 90’s. Read more »

AVID Pro Tools tour 2012 event at the Cape Audio College

The event has kicked off with representatives from S.E.G.M.A demonstrating some fantastic new units from AVID, the makers of Pro Tools digital audio workstation software and Hardware. I remember a day when software controllers where these ugly grey boxes with big rubber F keys. They had nasty, complicated MIDI integration and cost more than a family car. That wasn’t all that long ago and with technology moving at such a pace I find myself wondering what we are in store for next.
