The reference library is a relaxed environment designed specifically for the purpose of research and student development. This library contains the latest in Audio Engineering reference literature as well as music business and audio industry resources. Computer workstations provide students with a porthole to the vast resources available online including the Audio Engineering Societies online database of academic journals that date back more than 100 years. A collection of over 5000 CD’s of multiple genres provide students with reference material that has huge value when producing music, as well as a massive international audio magazine collection keeps students up to date with the latest in world wide audio technology.
Group study sessions, SRC meetings and college events can all be facilitated using this modern and relaxed environment. With close access to the reference library this becomes a huge advantage for the knowledge hungry learner. There is always a multitude of activities happening at the Cape Audio College, that students are strongly encouraged to involve themselves with. The study centre provides a quiet and relaxed working climate that encourages learning and self development. Lecturers and trainers are on call at all times to help provide support to learners who might be researching in this location.
This spacious 85 seated auditorium provides a state of the art training environment that incorporates the latest in Wacom podium technology and 1080p projection. This enables hi-tech teaching methods and interactive learning. The auditorium facilitates the majority of technical lectures and demonstrations. The high end projection system provides trainers with a interactive teaching tool that ensures interesting and interactive lessons. There is a studio installation at the front of the room for demonstrations of the latest in audio software technology. The PA system provided by JBL ensures top quality audio reproduction. The auditorium is air conditioned, bright and comfortable. From time to time the college uses this facility as an industry venue for new product demonstrations and latest technology exposé.
Fitted with Pro-tools, and a large touch technology projector screen, our spacious, air-conditioned lecture room doubles as a studio in itself, and is therefore suitable for demonstrations of all audio principles within our curriculum. This enables cutting edge practical application during lectures to enable students to associate the theory with the hands on. The projector makes for an excellent cinema and a video library is available for enthusiastic learners. A video camera is used to project the intricate workings so that the entire room can see the control surface while the instructor is explaining. The lecture room also doubles as a seventeen station e-lab while not being used for group learning.
Lectures take the form of interactive “workshops” and Classes are conducted in English, although special attention is given to ensuring an understanding of the topic by all students.
Cape Audio Campus Radio is a “station” for students, by students. The idea is to get our existing students, & past graduates, to produce & present all their own shows.
The radio station aims to provide real-world/hands-on experience in radio production & presenting, as well as, a platform for the students to showcase their own work, & a means of ongoing relationship & interaction with the audio industry.

Cape Audio College Live and Direct is a concept, birthed by Cape Audio College with the aim to assist students in gaining real-world experience in Live Sound. Live sound is a buoyant industry in terms of employment for graduates and for this reason, the college has invested heavily in this area.
The Cape Audio College is the only institution in South Africa that offers PA (public address) equipment for students to use in the field. The only way to learn live sound is to get experience at real-world live events. The college offers students the use of a number of PA systems with varying configurations to facilitate any situation from festival stages to small clubs or pubs and everything in-between.
In addition to the hire out PA systems, the college is the sound sponsor for a well-known live sound venue in Cape Town. This facilitates the training of live sound in a real-world live sound venue. The training culminates in real live shows where the stakes are high with paying customers to satisfy. This ensures students get first-hand experience of how live sound works. The experience our students get at these events is vital in preparing them for the world of work in the live sound industry.
Live and Direct events & venues that we are currently involved in are: The Monster Energy Night Harvest, Super Cup & Superbowl, The Constantia Food & Wine Fair, The Constantia Craft Fair, Groot Constantia Carols Night, The Brass Bell (Kalkbay), Mercury (Cape Town) & Obviouzly Armchair (Observatory).
